RIVER RUN NEIGHBORHOODS
“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
-Matthew 22:36-40 NLT

What if we got better at the two things Jesus said matter most?
Love God. Love Your Neighbor.
I believe that you can't do either of them without the other. How can we say we love God but neglect the people he created and loves so much, the people living all around us? How can we give our neighbors the kind of authentic, real, unconditional love without it flowing from Love Himself? When we over-generalize the Great Commandment and make everyone our neighbor, then nobody is a neighbor. River Run wants to teach, encourage, equip and release people to know and love their literal neighbors…the guy, gal, or family next door and across the street. Aim at nothing specific and you hit nothing. Aim at knowing your literal neighbors. This is the foundation for our ministry at River Run. We want to provide resources and connections to encourage Christians and churches to love their literal next-door neighbors. Our goal is to help you be the best neighbor your neighbors have ever had. We invite you to join the conversation and share your neighboring stories! |
