* The Message paraphrase is a fantastic resource to use as a supplement to the Biblical text, but as a paraphrase it is not an equivalent to the actual biblical text. Eugene Peterson (editor of The Message) was a wonderful pastor and man of God. His life and work are a tremendous gift to the Church, but his paraphrase lacks the scholarly review by panels of linguistic and theological scholarship that the above recommended versions undergo.
